Believe it or knot,
there is a brush out there that will change your life, curly girls. The Wet Brush has revolutionary bristle technology that allows bristles to be intelligent and flexible at the same time. Until I found the wet brush, I would ONLY detangle my hair with my fingers in the shower. Now, I can’t even imagine how I ever did that. The rubber non-slip handle allows you to use it in or out of the shower and on wet or dry hair (obviously only on wet hair for curly girls, unless you’re going for the fro look). The Wet Brush product line is also affordable. Combs and brush collections from the The Wet Brush range from about $7 to $30. The one I use cost me around $14. I was even able to scoop up a Lil’ Wet Brush for my niece at Marshalls the other day for $5, which is regularly $12. The brand even has a pet brush line for your pups. This brush really detangles my hair in just a few moments. It cuts my shower time down significantly. The bristles run through my hair with ease and because it doesn’t pull, it won’t rip out any healthy hair. We all know we aren’t trying to lose anything we don’t have to. Give The Wet Brush a try, it’ll save you time and money in the long run.

Sleeping in all white sheets? Don’t forget that hotels are THE BEST place to stock up on shower caps for future hair mask evenings. They make it possible to sleep the night through while moisturizing curls and avoiding making a mess of your bedding. It’s also a fun thing to collect from new cities if you’re looking for a unique souvenir. I keep an entire box full of them in my bathroom. I just can’t get enough (;

If you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Or opt for turning on the air conditioning while you diffuse your curls in the bathroom! So we all know that I am not a big advocator of heat products because it be drying and damaging to your hair. I am ALL for healthy hair, but I know that there will be some instances where time won’t permit air drying. For these times, I have my go-to diffuser. I won’t use it often, but this is the blow dryer that I reach for when I’m in a pinch. DevaCurl’s Sun Dryer by Taiff. It is the first dryer and diffuser designers specifically for curly or wavy hair. This dryer guarantees softer, shinier, and frizz-free hair. The best part is that hand-like attachment lifts from tip to root as if you are applying product. It also allows for 360-degree airflow to dry curls inside and out or outside and underneath. It takes a time sensitive task to whole new heights! There is high and low airflow settings, as well as warm and hot heat settings. I highly suggest this as a long term investment for those of you with textured locks!

This is my best friend, Alex. She is the same mix as me and naturally has very curly hair. I just wanted to post about Alex’s story in order to share and really emphasize the importance of taking the time to find the right product that works best for you. This is imperative so that you can avoid becoming what I like the call the “product junkie.” It’s easy to start buying new item after new item and soon enough you’ll have a bathroom cabinet or table top full of colorful bottles of all shapes and sizes. More than likely, they may be old, unused, or not even suitable for your hair type. Don’t get me wrong. I’m guilty of the whole, “But, it smells so nice!” justification, too! Anyway, I have known Alex since my freshman year of high school. Ever since then, I have been trying to get her to try my go-to product line called, DevaCurl. It’s somewhat expensive and with everyone having a busy and hectic lifestyle, making time for hair care just isn’t in the cards sometimes. Finally, this year she caved! This was definitely one of my proudest moments as a curl enthusiast. I took her with my when I bought my new products to stock up and convinced her to purchase the smaller bottles to see if she liked it. Needless to say, all I hear now is, “I don’t know what I would do without my DevaCurl.” and “I can’t believe I didn’t take your advice and try it sooner.” The right product formula or cocktail (which is when you use more than one product to produce your styled look) really has the power to change your life. That being said,  I encourage all of you to take the time, especially over the holidays, to experiment and find something that really works for you, your hair, and your lifestyle.
